Junior Olympic Chair
In 1952, Norvel Lee became the first Olympian to represent PVA Boxing and won the gold medal at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, Finland, when the association's boundaries covered the Northern Virginia region.
Prior to 1978, PVA Boxing operated under the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), which was responsible for governing amateur sports in the United States.
However, in 1978, the United States of America Amateur Boxing Federation (USA/ABF) was established, taking over the governance of amateur boxing from the AAU.
USA/ABF later transitioned to become USA Boxing, which is currently the national governing body for amateur boxing in the United States.
